✅ Meet Irvine’s New Democratic City Council Majority! Hear from our leaders about their vision for advancing Irvine.
✅ District 5 Candidate Forum – April 15 Special Election. Learn about the Democratic candidates running for District 5 and their priorities for our city.
✅ Vote on Club Support for Endorsement. Following the forum, DGI members in good standing will hold an important online vote on our support for Democratic Party endorsement of a candidate for the District 5 special election.
✅ Connect and Collaborate. Network with like-minded Democrats over pizza and start 2025 energized and informed!

Board Elections
Per our bylaws, we are holding our biennial board elections in February of non-election years. The next election is scheduled for our Club Meeting on Feburary 5, 2025.
The candidate submission criteria include information to verify your status as a Member in Good Standing, including voter registration name and address, and a candidate statement.
To apply for consideration as a board candidate, please fill out this form by December 30.
The officer positions up for election are Chair, First Vice Chair, Second Vice Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary.
The officers' duties and responsibilities are defined in the bylaws as follows:
Chair shall
Be the Chief Executive Officer of the Club
Preside over all meetings of the Club and the Executive Board.
Establish ad hoc committees and make appointments to other non-elected committee positions as required.
Appoint Members in Good Standing to temporarily fill unexpired terms of office of Club officers, subject to election by the Members.
Act as the official spokesperson of the Club.
Stimulate active interest in the political process.
Provide a constructive role for the active volunteer.
Promote harmony within the Club membership, between other clubs and within the DPOC.
First Vice-Chair shall:
Serve at the direction of the Chair.
Preside at meetings if the Chair is unable to do so or if requested by the Chair to do so.
Assume the duties of the Chair in the absence of the Chair.
Second Vice-Chair shall:
Serve at the direction of the Chair.
Preside at meetings if the Chair and First Vice-Chair are unable to do so, or is requested by the Chair to do so.
Assume the duties of the First Vice-Chair in the absence of the First Vice-Chair.
Secretary shall:
Keep the minutes of Regular and Special Meetings and Executive Board Meetings.
Conduct correspondence and maintain the Club’s communication records including attendance lists.
Chair meetings in the absence of the Chair and Vice-Chairs.
Maintain the membership roster.
Ensure that all required information, reports, and notices are submitted as required by DPOC and CDP.
Conduct the correspondence of the Club under the direction of the Chair.
Treasurer shall:
Maintain all financial records of the Club, be responsible for bank accounts, and ensure FPPC/FEC financial reports are submitted on time.
Prepare a budget.
Collect all funds and dues from the Members.
Receive and deposit all funds into the checking account.
Pay and reimburse for expenditures.
Pay annual charter fee to DPOC.
Make the record of Club receipts and expenditures available to any Member or to the Audit Committee when requested.
Provide a report of the Club’s financial status at Regular or Special Meetings as requested.
Provide an annual written report of Club’s financial status by end of the fiscal year.
The Election Committee consists of members in good standing: Melisa Masri, Doug Elliott, and Youssef Kaddeche.

The Democrats of Greater Irvine raises up the voices of local Democrats to connect them to party leaders and elected officials.
We register voters, organize precinct walks, promote the Democratic Party, and provide a safe space for us to learn more together. And we have been doing so since 2004!
